| While Copper Mountain does not appear to be seeking the full expansion
potential within their permit boundary to their west (pink line), they
still appear to be requesting terrain zoned for developed skiing in Guller
Gulch (orange) - the gateway to Janet’s Cabin and home of a portion of
the Colorado Trail. They also have acreage within their permit boundary
for additional lifts to their south and east long Colorado Highway 91.
Copper Mountain will likely request the Jacques Basin (light blue) and
Tucker Gulch (pink) to be zoned for downhill, lift served skiing.
They have in the past considered developing a new base village along CO
Hwy. 91; the possibility that the Tucker Creek drainage zoning request
is motivated by real estate development potential cannot be ruled out.

| Breckenridge seeks zoning down to Peak 5 for downhill lift served skiing.
Yet their request makes no sense unless they were to drop lifts across
the nordic center to private lands.
In 1999, Breckenridge received Forest Service approval for a high speed quad on Peak 7. Colorado Wild agued that the lift was proposed to increase the value of 300 acres of private lands in Cucumber Gulch owned by Vail Resorts. Subsequently, the Army Corp of Engineers and the EPA held up Breckenridge's wetlands destruction permit until Vail Resorts revealed their development plans. The Peak 7 expansion is now on hold, but is still permitted with Alternative D, the Forest Service's preferred alternative with the Forest plan revision.
